From My Inbox: Happy Fall

Being a Christian is like being a pumpkin.
God lifts you up, takes you in, and washes all the dirt off of you.
He opens you up, touches you deep inside and scoops out all the yucky stuff-- including the seeds of doubt, hate, greed, etc.
Then He carves you a new smiling face and puts His light inside you to shine for all the world to see.

Have a Happy Fall - my favorite time of the year.

I love fall; there is just something about the visible signs of change in the world around me that guides me to change my own life. Spring is about new life, but fall is about letting go - of the bad experiences, the hurts, the need for control of my life... The Gospel message is clear - we must first die to self in order to achieve eternal life. This is my season of dying to self, even more so than Lent.

It's also a time of hearing the shoosh-shoosh as you walk through leaves, of football games and "windbreakers," of apple cider and cinnamon, of warmth in the day and coolness at night... When I was little and we didn't have A/C, we didn't cook with the oven in the summer, so fall was the time when we finally resumed baking and making casseroles (lasagna - yum!). And it's the season of family birthdays - me, my sister, my grandmother, my mother-in-law, my brother-in-law and my sister-in-law.

I LOVE FALL!
